FP5 Android Auto not working after screen lock

Hello,

I’m using Android Auto with a FP5, when I unplug the USB cable, lock the screen of the phone, unlock it and reconnect the cable, Android Auto doesn’t start again.
After rebooting the phone, if I plug the USB cable Android Auto starts. If I unplug the USB cable, and plug it again before the screen locks itself, Android Auto restarts.
This problem doesn’t exist with other phone.

Although I am currently using /e/OS 3.0.1, it has also happened with /e/OS 2.9. I am unaware of any prior versions.

Any idea to solve this problem please ?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you mean that AA only launches if you plug in USB after rebooting the phone and before the screen has had time to lock?

Did you ask over on the Murena forum?

Did you try unlocking the screen before you plug in USB?

AA launches only one time per “boot” : even if the screen was locked before, if I plug in USB, AA will launch (with screen locked or not) but if I unplug it, it will never start until I reboot.

I’ll ask to murena forum.

I don’t use AA (don’t have a car) but I see from the app settings that starting AA automatically can be determined by the vehicle. Try setting “Start Android Auto automatically” to “Always” if that’s not already the case.

In addition, you’ll probably want to choose “Start AA while locked”.

Could you do me a favour and try to run the USBType-C self-test from the Fairphone app when the problem occurs? You need a USB-C thumb drive or similar to run the test.
I.e. start the test, plug the thumb drive, once in each orientation, wait a few seconds until it succeeds, maybe the first time does not work.

For me I can “revive” AA with this process. A reboot for me does NOT do the trick however. I have not noticed the connection between screen lock and it no longer working. To me it seems it works once until I “fix” it. I have had one occurrence where it worked more than once but did not make the connection with screen lock.

This would only tell me that I am not alone with this problem and maybe give you a way to use AA without rebooting the phone every time.

And yes, I have an open, unanswered support ticket with FP about this.

Why do you need an extra device in that moment cant you just run the test while connected to car and what does the internal test show you in those moments?

I am running AA over cable. So I need to be disconnected from the car. The test requires a USB “disk” to run.
This is the screen after the successful test:

Each plug statuses switch to “ok” in only one orientation of the USB thumb drive.

How do you access to this app ? I tried this app but there is no USB-C menu.

It’s the Fairphone App. It was pre-installed. The app itself links me here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fairphone.myfairphone
I’d assume it is available on e/os? If not, then sorry for the noise.

The test is under “support” “internal tests”

No its not.

For clarification: the test menu is no App, it can be accessed through the My Fairphone App or by dailing a number. Either way only with FPOS not with any CustomROM

This App is old and was made for the FP2 so has only very few tests.

Ah, okay. Then, again, sorry for the noise. If the checkup app does not provide anything in that regard, then I’m of no further help here.

I’m on e/os, it explains why I don’t see it.
