FP4 Setup Wizard?

The setup wizard that came with my Fairphone 4 allowed options for getting data via cable from another Fairphone. When I do a Factory Reset, I get a different Setup Wizard - that does not offer any options for getting data from an existing Android device. How do I launch the original Setup Wizard ? Or how do I retrieve data from another phone? Thanks.

Hmmm, I think it’s possible, that the setup Wizard-App has been updated with some new OS releases and does not offer that option anymore. I think if you contact the official Fairphone support, they could be more of help here.

That said, what data are you looking to transfer from another phone exactly? Just simple files / photos or also apps and their settings (which is a whole lot more difficult, than “just files”).

Hi @planetcooler,

Are you looking for a way to transfer data, contact, settings, and apps from your old phone to your new Fairphone?

there are multiple ways of doing so. the best way will depend on your own preference and wishes.

one way wat i think is the most used for transfering all data and settings from a android device to a different android device is using the backup function how is located in the settings of your old phone.

the phone will make a copy of your phone to a cloud server, normally Google Drive.

be aware this can take a long time.

After that is finished you can “recover” that back up on your new phone after you dit login on the cloud server on your new phone (Google Drive).

if you prefer to use the cable to transform data.
dit you follow those staps?

please read the entire article here

if the process of transfering your data still not worked, please share in so much as possible detail wat went wrong and what was different from the explanation in the article.

i will not recemment contacting the Fairphone sepot, it will take at least 18 days before you will receive a reply, Fairphone sepot departement is overloaded at the moment.

if you have any questions feel free to ask them here at the community form!

ofcourse if its something we cant solve as community you will need to contact te support departement of Fairphone.

greetings

Tom

I persanally cant really believe thats the case, unless the old Google account is still somehow connected to the device.

Edit: or as suggested by @zalamander there were changes and I’m wondering if Android Switch is related to this, although I understood its only working on Pixel phones. I would recommend to do some search in the internet.
