Interesting. So SFR is a common denominator in our cases, as well as Fairphone of course. I have contacted Fairphone support to see if they can help. I now wonder if it would be useful/appropriate/possible to contact SFR as well. Suggestions from forum members would be much appreciated.
Edit: Prixtel have told me that this problem is nothing to do with them, and suggest contacting the phone manufacturers. I have no substantive reply from them yet.
Is your phone on SFR directly or with a third party provider? So far it looks as if we need Fairphone to sort it out. I’m getting increasingly uncomfortable with the lack of updates. I still haven’t heard anything from them beyond a ticket number.
Thanks for the heads-up. There was no notification, but I checked anyway. The update was available for me also, and it has loaded without problem. So thank you to whoever it was who made this happen.
What I understand happened is the the security update of June (FP4.TP2U.C.0136) actually never came for our phone, and the last one we got is the security update of July (FP4.TP2U.C.0137).
So it has been mostly 6month without any security update…
Well, here we are again, or at least I am, waiting for the latest Android security update on my FP4 connected via Prixtel/SFR in France. I am hoping it will be not such a long wait as for the last one.. Anyone else on SFR got lucky yet?
On the basis of the Partner and Network Approval workflow already cited by Meaghan, and given that C. 0143 is purely a security update with no functional modifications, I would consider that the ball is squarely in the court of SFR.
This is an interesting point which I would like to follow up. I have an FP4 running an Android system managed and maintained by Fairphone, and a mobile contract with the MVNO Prixtel, which functions over the SFR mobile network. Prixtel have already indicated that they have no part to play in the provision of updates. As I have only an indirect relationship with SFR, I do not know how I can bring it up with them. Any guidance would be much apprciated.
No direct part because they are just reselling a service. However they are the link between you and SFR, who do have a part to play, so to my mind it’s the job of Prixtel to communicate your problem to SFR.
Otherwise it’s just too easy to rip off customers and take no responsibility.
I put the point you make to Prixtel again, and they again declined to accept any agency in the update process. However, as if by magic, the update has now appeared, I have installed it and everything seems fine. See y’all next time maybe…
