[FP3] Apps and keybaord are not repsonisve/not usable

Hello there,

My problem is that two to three times a day my FP3+ becomes unusable and only a restart helps.
This is my current configuration/usage:

  • SD Card with 256GB mainly used for Photos und Music
  • Deactivated a few google apps
  • using greenify to close running apps (“Beenden erzwingen” in german)
  • mostly using Bluetooth Headphones/Boxes
  • Watching Movies/Series
  • Twitter X/Bluesky

What happens:

  • I can navigate through apps but when I want to “click” on something nothing happens.
  • If I want to write something the keyboard doesn’t pop up. Therefore no typing of messages is possible.
  • I still can record voice messages and sent them.
  • Apps crash from time to time.

What I already tried:

  • Killing some Android Apps (“Android Web View”) again with “Beenden erwzingen”.
  • Setting my Phone back to factory settings.
  • Deleting cache from most apps
  • Edit: delete most used apps to see if things are getting better

I’m at a point where this issue is so big for me that I seriously consider to switch to FP4/5. I couldn’t find a similar problem in the Forum. Therefore sorry if I’m spaming…

Did you test in safe mode to ensure its not a third party app causing this?

You could still reinstall the OS from scratch, since an Android factory reset wouldn’t repair a OS perhaps gone faulty over time … https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/18896094650513-Install-Fairphone-OS-manually

Thanks for the advice. Just to be clear. You would recommend a flashing with Fastboot not a OTA sideload (see screenshot)?

I actually tried deleting apps to see if are deleting an APP the behaviour gets better. I couldn’t identify app which was causing this issue.

Yes, if nothing else helps.

I tried safemode and disabled it again (because frankly I can’t use my phone this way) and this actually helped for a bit. I only had to restart it every other day. But I still have the problem, that apps become unusable due to no reaction from the touchscreen.

I guess a complete reinstall of android will be my last option, before giving up on my fairphone.
