FP2 Update Problems

I have recently attempted to Update the OS on my phone a few times recently without success. The installation always seems to be aborted and I end up on the Android System Recovery <3e> screen.

I then factory reset my phone to attempt updating the OS and still the same problem occurs.

I am attempting to update to Android 6. After updating the Fairphone Updater and having downloaded the 17.04.8 update after clicking restart again the Android System Recovery <3e> screen shows.

This is the message that is written at the bottom:

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

The unexpected content error usually means you modified the system somehow.
Since a hard reset didn’t work try this:

This makes me wonder two things:

  • Is the phone still on 1.9.3? Or do all builds show this?
  • I was only aware of an update route from 1.13.0, at least for manual installs. Does Fairphone now offer updates from different versions via the updater, or is the updater not checking the installed system version properly?

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your response.

In the past I had rooted my phone to be able to render the Tibetan script
on my phone which Android 5 was not able to do. It is now possible with
Android 6.

I thought that perhaps factory resetting my device then the phone would
become unrooted.

Can you remind me the procedure for flashing an OS update onto the phones.
I am unsure of the process.

Thank you for your help.
