FP2: Hiccup server shutdown

Dear remaining Fairphone 2 users,

With Fairphone 2 software support having ended earlier this year, we are now also ready to turn off the Hiccup server.

Hiccup was a crash reporting solution developed exclusively for Fairphone 2, which users could opt into to share crash reports with us. These crash reports were used to investigate stability issues and for obtaining metrics on active devices. With Fairphone 2 software support having ended for a while now, there is no longer a need to keep the Hiccup server running.

What does this mean for you? The Hiccup app on your Fairphone 2 will continue to collect crash reports and attempt to share them with us, but without the server being available this will no longer succeed. Therefore we recommend you to disable Hiccup altogether. You can do so by going to Settings → Maintenance → Hiccup and turning off “Send stability information”.

And, last but not least, a big thank you to all of you who opted in to Hiccup throughout the years!

If anything is unclear, feel free to comment below.
