Inspired by the discussion at FP2 Should I buy it even if I have a FP1? I’m going to do an “experiment”. My goal is to use my FP1U for as long as possible. I’m not going to get a FP2 because I think the more new users Fairphone can reach with the FP2 the better. But in case many FP1(U) users do get …

Ok the experiment has ended. I admit I haven’t used my FP1 as my primary phone for a while now, but I did use it for all kinds of things every now and then and it always worked perfectly fine. Now I donated it to the austrianfairphoners ’ spare parts collection and already it saved two other FP’s l…

It depends on the definition of ‘be able’. Only in a technical sense? Or in the way that you can use the phone (security wise)? Oh, and FP2 hasn’t been released yet; only pre-orders can be placed.

[image] paulakreuzer: Who’s with me? It’s also my intention to use my FP1 (no U) as long as possible.

For me it’s quite simple: the only reason for me to get rid of any electronic equipment is when it stopped working and is beyond repair. But I’m still a bit afraid that security comes in as a new factor in this case.

My partner Adri who’s getting my Fairphone 1 is also planning to keep as long as possible.

I will…but if I’ll find someone who wants my second hand FP1 I hope he/she will on behalf of me :stuck_out_tongue: and I’ll try to achieve that date with a shiny FP2  Bye!

Possible now with @chrmhoffmann ’s custom ROM: [image] [UNOFFICIAL] Stock ROM Android 4.4.2/4.4.4 Kitkat for FP1 & FP1U Fairphone 1 Chrmhoffmann just released a 4.4.2. Stock ROM for Fairphone 1 & 1U

After more than a year using my FP1U, first problem with the back cover it opens all the time. For sure, phone has fallen several times… So I bought a case and problem solved

That was the beginig of my Fairephones dead :frowning:. The battery started to become bolted, that opened the Fairphone all the time, if I wanted to close it I had to push that hard, that I saw color effects on the display. I believed that this won’t be a problem, because I had a phone with change…

[image] Shiny: The battery started to become bolted Did you mean “ bloated ”? But you’re right, spare parts (like battery and screen) have to be available all the time. Nobody wants to be months without a smartphone because the battery bloats (or another part is broken) and no replacement is a…

Exactly, I meant bloated. I was very sad as I noticed that I can’t get the spare part. I think this is currently the biggest problem of FairPhone. As the battery of my first Android phone, a HTC Desire S got weak, it was no problem to buy a new one from a third party producer. So the phone can and…
