Am i correct in saying Files would open my PDF files in Adobe Reader in the past. Well it doesn’t now. I have tried various things such as “Open With…” but i don’t get the option to Always or just once. I have played around with settings. One setting would be App Info of Files to have clear defaults but there isn’t one.
I have uninstalled updates for Files by Google - , still no change.
Something weird has happened i looked at all apps and saw app before Files by Google called Files grey folder in blue circle i think that’s what was originally there for file explorer. If i remember i thought the icon changed in an update.
Any advice to make PDF files open in default Adobe Reader. Or perhaps bring back the original file explorer or recommend a file explorer that allows more control.
I use the file manager from Fossify and Ghost Commander and another PDF viewer and had no issues to define to always use the PDF viewer. The Fossify File Manager is simple and good.
By the way i have installed Total Commander a file manager. Its a bit geeky/techie. I have set the apps for pdf and others. So will be using that for now. Has a text editor and things. I am still be interested a solution.
I also went to all apps after i posted my post and Reset All Preferences (top right). No change to Files by Google.
What do you mean with this? The question still is avaialble when you have more than one App installed that potentially could open the file and you have not selected always before.
Else this might be connected to the Google Files App which I dont use. Means Google might want to force you to use the Google PDF viewer etc…
