I hope that syncmate or some other software will help you on this
With regards calibrating proximity sensor tool can be found in the settings. Scroll down to the very bottom and select “Maintainance”. Then choose “Proximity sensor”.

You could look at ContactSync: http://ntbab.dyndns.org/apache2-default/seite/contactsync.html and CalendarSync:http://ntbab.dyndns.org/apache2-default/seite/icalparseandroid.html which can be used independently of Google.
btw, that #community:angels link doesn’t work.
thanks. i hope so too.
update - it looks like this phone may be faulty, as it is refusing to connect to any networks, so no point in doing things i’ll have to repeat, best to wait till the issue is fixed, i think.
Here try this one: fairphoneangels.
The other one points to a hidden category, but unfortunately that pops up first if you enter #ang… and you have access to that category.
Thanks, I didn’t know that.
thanks for all the links, i’ve bookmarked them all. will start researching!
thanks, i’ll get in touch with them
I haven’t read all of this thread in detail but I can understand your frustration. In case you’re still looking for answers: Fairphone Open OS is a version of Android without all of the Google stuff that usually comes with it (Android doesn’t actually belong to Google, it’s open source). It works fine except for a few functions which you may or may not need (push messages and, for some apps, localization - these need additional Apps and Settings that take a bit of time to understand).
I use my Fairphone with Open OS (and it works!) and synchronize my contacts (and Calendar) with my Mac. The app I use to do this is SyncMate. It is not open source but the basic functions are available for free. And the data is transferred via USB, it doesn’t use a cloud. Let me know if you need any more information on this!
Good luck!
I see you had several issues, some of them quite obvious some other not. Some “heavy” user finds it all very simple but its not if you dont have some technical background that helps you going through the files.
As a suggestion Id invite you to keep your FPoS with Google in it, it will make you much easier to do tasks like transferring contacts.
Im a mac user myself and went from an iphone6 to my beloved fairphone. I had some issues at the beginning, it took me a couple of weeks, but Id never go back to another device.
Cheers
hallo everybody, sorry to have been so rude, i’ve had some personal issues to sort out, as well as the service from my provider not transferring smoothly (in fact it’s still not complete). and i’ll be away now till the 28th, so won’t be able to deal with this till then. many thanks for your patience.
