Hi everyone,
about 8 months ago I switched from an iPhone 14 Pro to the Fairphone 6. At first, I had some difficulties getting used to Android, but over time I’ve become comfortable with it and now I really appreciate the Fairphone and its overall concept.
There is however one “security” related issue that I’ve noticed and would like to suggest as a possible improvement:
When the phone is locked anyone can still swipe down and access the control/quick settings menu. This means that important functions like enabling airplane mode can be changed without unlocking the device.
On my previous phone(s) this was handled more securely. Ideally I would like to see an option where:
-
Access to the quick settings menu is restricted/disabled when the device is locked, or at least sensitive toggles (like airplane mode…) are disabled
-
Powering off the device requires entering the unlock PIN/password first
I did find the setting “Device controls without unlocking” under display→lock screen settings, but disabling it doesn’t seem to affect this behavior.
From what I know other Android manufacturers (e.g., Samsung) offer more granular control over this, and it would be great to have a similar option on Fairphone.
Overall, I really like the device and the Fairphone, this is just one feature I think could improve the products.
Thanks & Greetings
