Hey,
with the fairphone 6+ marking fairphone’s launch in the US and except for very minor changes (one new color, a slight bump in processor and memory) it seems to be virtually the same (even the US page warns of the same network limitations that may or may not happen with the 6).
So my fair question is: Would fairphone consider honoring warranty issues for the 6 if it was bought in the EU, since it could now very easily be repaired / replaced here? NOT asking for a free 6+ to make it clear, just wondering what would happen in the roughly 1 year of EU warranty left on the 6
No its clearly seperated between US and EU products. I also cant get help in the US during travels.
That’s a missed opportunity to endear the pre-launch fanbase, but not much different from other manufactures I guess.
I assume some legal reasons, however thats just a guess.
More information, and a bit of small print (I haven’t gone through that in detail myself)
Warranty for US
Self-Repair Portal for US customers
Before diagnosis it asks for IMEI of a product so I cannot really test it myself.
I just tested it. Entering the fairphone 6 IMEI results (predictably) in a “IMEI not found” error, however there is “another device” option that lets you create an issue requesting either a spare part or accessory with a “We are here to help!” issue. You can also choose the fairphone 3-5 on that screen. You will have to provide proof of purchase. So it looks like they will at least TRY if the moment comes
Edit: It does recognize my login data from the European site, so that’s good
