Fairphone keeps making me feel like a sucker

I got put onto the Fairphone spam list when I bought my Fairphone 5. Now I keep getting e-mails about offers which I didn’t have access to, like the current one, which is to get a free screen protector and case when you buy the phone between now and 16 March 2025.

I know that it is “good marketing” to create a sense of urgency and also to make people feel like they are somehow getting a special deal… but honestly all it does for me is make me feel like I am a loser because I bought my Fairphone when I needed a new phone rather than at a particular moment chosen by the company.

I get that Fairphone feels that the more people that have Fairphones the better it is for both the planet and the people living on it, but surely there is a way to achieve this goal without relying on pressure tactics and all of the vast array of psychological tricks that modern sales & marketing uses?

With every ‘news’ email from Fairphone, there is an option at the bottom to unsubscribe partially or completely.

Thanks Lidwien!

However my concern is not how to unsubscribe from marketing mails, but rather with the direction of Fairphone.

In the same way that Fairphone rejects many industry standard practices in the creation of their phone, I think they should reject many industry standard practices in the sales and marketing of their phone.

Which ones exactly?
Offering deals or lower prices?
Telling people about it?
Anything else?
