Why is Fairphone so close with murena and /e/ and not with other ROMs like Calyx and Iode for example? I guess this has to do with some financial thing or licensing stuff. As /e/ has the original FP6 Camera and also the Fairphone Moments app and no other lineage ROM has this pleasure 
This makes me really sad. As I think most other lineage ROMs are better than /e/ for various reasons, but since I really like the FP6 original cam and the moments switch I’m stuck with /e/?
I’m not sure what the company wrote on their social media channels about this (if at all), but here are the two stories I found on their homepage (the first is the initial announcement of their collaboration).
Apart from what @Ingo said, there is also the other side of the story - do custom ROM developers want to work with a commercial company?
For most, the answer is probably “no”. They all remember very well how the CyanogenMOD collaboration with OnePlus went… Most of them probably don’t want to risk their project, their life’s work and their community. They can still support Fairphone, especially because Fairphone publishes most of their source code, which helps with development a lot - just why risk it again in that case?
Perhaps look at it from a different angle.
Both Fairphone and Murena try to offer ‘fair’, ‘non-big-tech’, ‘privacy focused’ - however you summarise it - mobile device infrastructure for ‘ordinary users’ (perhaps with a bit of tech affinity) as a business model. In hard competition with the dominant players.
This is a delicate balance (with several trade offs) for usability, and already a niche.

More ‘exotic’ custom ROMs are even more niche and will definitely have no scope beyond a very limited group of very tech-savvy users.
I disagree, also talked to the iode guys, they would include it if they would be provided with that. That’s what I understood at least. I don’t understand your point as well what would be the risk, just some lines of code changed, they could even fork /e/ if they would make it public…
I also disagree with this. You have a point, yes. But the Fairphone literally has 3 custom ROMs. There isn’t even a niche here.

Yet, installing or even attempting to install another operating system on a Fairphone, will void the warranty.
So mind the gap.

For sure its not a warranty case when you brick it by flashing. You can let FP fix this and even after that you can still claim warranty for hardware issues.
So still: flashing another ROM does not void warranty. Just read legal docs to understand what a warranty case is and what not

I have to admit you guys seem to be right. I talked to the iode devs again, and it seems they don’t want to have to hassle with this specific Fairphone case. So you guys are absolutely right!
I now have to decide if I go back to /e/ with Android 15 and all of e’s bloatware or if I stay on 16 with a nice iode, but no Moments switch and nice stock camera. I started working on a magisk module enabling these two things.
I’m running eOS since many years and see not much ‘bloatware’.
If the eOS bundle is still too much, use vanilla LineageOS and sideload microG yourself.

Well there is the huge package of all the murena apps that are not disabled easily and also not removable. Biggest amount I ever saw in a custom ROM without google at least.
Also if you read my actual post, you see that it makes no sense to install LOS, because I want the slider to work with Fairphone Moments. Also LOS hasn’t been updated for five months now…
It was just updated a few days ago with Jun SPL, just for the records.
I don’t really see the point: you can personalize the e/OS/ as you like. You can e.g. replace the app store with Aurora and F-Droid, you can install another launcher, you can use other calendar apps, contact apps etc. And you can delete not wanted proprietary apps with “adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 file.name”, etc. etc.
The advantage of e/OS, at least for me, is that after installing it, the boot loader is locked again, which is essential for running e.g. certain banking apps.
I tried out iodéOS and others but the banking apps would not run. And, well, I need them.
