Fairphone 6 Nextcloud Talk Push Notfictions are not working

Hello, I have been using FP6 for about 1 week and I am very satisfied. However, I have a big problem: my organization uses Nextcloud Talk and it does not send me push messages. I have followed all the instructions. Apparently it has to do with energy saving settings. These are all deactivated but the app still can’t send me any push messages. Messages sometimes only arrive after manual updates. I have read that the error has already occurred in the past with Fp4 but no real solution was found except to wait for an NC update.
The other users do not have these problems and on my previous device (OnePlus Android 13) there were no problems at all

All other messenger services work perfectly.
Has anyone experienced or similar problems?

Welcome to the community forum

Two things that are easy to check:

  1. Make sure you download the NC Talk app from Google Playstore and not from f-droid.

  2. Make sure that the app has permission to run in the background (this permission will likely affect energy consumption). Go to
Settings > Apps > Nextcloud Talk > App battery usage > Allow background usage

Apart from that, I advise getting help both from Nextcloud (see here
but you’ll need client credentials) and from Fairphone official support.

Hello and thank you for your answer. I have already tried your solutions. Unfortunately nothing helped. The app is on the Google Store and has all the permissions you can have.

I have opened an issue on GitHub NC Talk Android and will try the official support team

Update:

I don’t know why, but without updating, restarting, or changing the settings. It just started working from one day to the next. The battery saver message indicating that something is wrong is still there. Lucky me i guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯?

Good news, but let’s avoid trusting to luck …

Please note that permission to run in the background is NOT listed under “Permissions” but under “App battery usage” as I specified above.
