Fairphone 6 case partly blocking fingerprint reader

Hello all,

Ik received the case for the fp6 yesterday! But the fingerprint reader is not easy to use anymore with my thum is not working anymore because te space is to small now i only can reach it with my index finger! So that not so good constructed!? How didt the design team not see this?

Would you kindly explain how you hold/operate the phone?

I operate the phone with two hands: hold the phone in the left and unlock with the right index finger. Works perfectly for me…

Oh wow, so it’s the same issue that the FP5 case has too? Man I am glad I went with a third-party case right away, I didn’t like the cut-out in the back.

I feel your frustration, some design-choices of Fairphone are ridiculous. As if nobody ever tried the prototype before mass-producing the product.

No. Never heard the FP5 case gives people hard times to unlock?

On the FP6 its different, and for me at least caused by the fact that there is this big cutout, having only 1 case “wall”. Tried to explain it here

I recommend (re)teaching the fingerprint reader with protective case mounted. This helped me.

I mentioned it in a german thread here, it has sharp edges that were insuring my finger when trying push it on the reader. Maybe I am the only one :man_shrugging:

Even if you are not the only one

Sharp edges and

Is not

Yes normal i use the phone with my right hand and unlock the phone with my thumb thats wit the case not posible any more now i have to hold the phone in my left hand and slide my right index finger to the sensor to unlock! Thats not how i want to use my phone! I think of you make a phone expressly from Fairphone his self that it have to be top notch! And this is not top notch but meh! And for a premium price!

I tryded that for my thumb but the sensor is then not even registrading it! Becasue there is not enough space! And is not that i have very big thumbs xD

I just registered my right thumb, albeit it took as double tries as necessary. Unlocking works as reliably as with my right index finger.

For me unlocking with my right thumb also works flawlessly after putting on the case

I’m having exactly the same problem! I’ve sent support photos.

Let’s hope Apple didn’t get a patent or trademark for “You’re holding it wrong!” .

Aah oke tnx for letting me know please keep me posted if you have some feedback!

Yeah indeed you need to hold it like in this angle to use the fingerprint scanner! XD

To be precise, the “hole” in the FP5’s case is too small and that’s the reason I had to force my finger in there, rubbing on the sharp edge in this process. It’s a similar issue but the “part” that’s flawed in the design is the same. I found that to be unfortunate.

For me it is! If you dont have the problem good for you!But the world is not only you! Some people have different experiments! Can you imagine that?

Why are you telling me that, as answer to a post not even addressed to you? I havent ever said I’m not having issues. So kindly re-read and get your emotions under control.

Then what do you mean with this?

And again dont tell me what to feel or todo!

I have a problem with the case!

Yes and I even confirmed this!

And than I talked to switch NOT you

So have not the faintest idea what made you write this unfriendly comment
