Fairphone 5 – good condition with minor functional quirks – ideal as a parts donor

I’m selling my Fairphone 5 (3 years old). The phone works overall, but it has a few typical Fairphone issues:
– USB port has slight mechanical play
– SIM card is occasionally not detected
– Battery shows normal aging. The display, cameras, and mainboard are all in good working condition and are excellent for spare parts. The device has been well cared for and comes from a non‑smoking household.Perfect for repair enthusiasts or as a donor device for modules.Price: negotiable
Pickup in Krefeld or shipping available.

Hello and welcome to the community forum.
It is customary to post picture(s) with the today’s date of the device along with the offer.

Reading this, I’m pretty sure it can be repaired by FP and not just used as spare part donor if one wants to take the route via the repair portal, just the extreded warranty and invoice should be needed.

I spend a lot of time cycling and generally being outdoors. For that kind of use, a Fairphone is a very poor choice. A Fairphone may work well at home in a protected environment, but on the road it does not offer the reliability I expect from a modern device.

The question is also what I should expect from a repair and what it would actually achieve. Will it give me a reliable device, or will it simply become another temporary fix until the next module fails? Considering how quickly a Fairphone wears out, I tend to assume the latter. Apart from that, issues like weak customer support and poor Wi-Fi roaming remain unaffected by any repair.

I never used the phone for demanding tasks such as long gaming sessions. It was only used for communication, taking an occasional photo, and checking for the next supermarket while travelling. But even that seems to have overwhelmed the device. I simply have no interest in a product with so many weaknesses

My intention was not that you get it repaired, my intention was that whoever buys it can have it repaired.
