Fairphone 4 is not recognised in Fastboot

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to install Ubuntu Touch, but I’m failing in fastboot. The adp devices command shows me my Fairphone 4, but as soon as it is in fastboot it is no longer recognised. I use the latest platform tools from Google, but have also tried Universal ADB Drivers, but the driver installation via the device manager always fails due to an unnamed error. I have also tried various USB cables and connections on my PC without success. Any other ideas what I could try? Developer options are on with USB debugging enabled and OEM unlocked. I followed this guide https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/10492476238865-Manage-the-Bootloader, but logically I don’t have Android 11 but 13, but I don’t see an option to install Android 11 without Fastboot. The Fair Phone itself says DEVICE STATE - locked.

Many thanks for any tips and best regards

Try it this way instead with device manager

Thanks for the quick reply, but unfortunately I’ve already done all that. I suspect I am doing something wrong in the settings of the Fair Phone, something that is different in Android 13 than Android 11 (I assume that was the version for which the guide was written), some developer option that you have to switch on additionally?

There is no difference in this regard between A11 and A13.

So when updating the driver as decribed in my link does not work, (btw what happens when you try it that way?) the next step might be another PC?

Fixed, thanks! The problem was that the update didn’t show up in the Windows additional updates menu. I now did it on my laptop instead of my PC and the update showed up there and now I have finished the Ubuntu Touch installation.
