I know this is all explained here and on OFCOM site but still very confused. I have a FP3 am with Smarty and today find I cannot send SMS. Three and Smarty say their network is up and running but I have emergency calls only.
My partner has FP3 and is on EE but CAN send SMS (they are in a different part of the country). Why is it working on EE (which OFCOM tells me switched off earlier this year) but not on Three (Smarty)?
I did try turning on 4G LTE earlier this month but ended up with no caller ids as per Software Update: 3.A.0132.20211027 - #225 by Joey_Cramer, although I have Android 13.
I’m on a really cheap tariff with Smarty which I also have my kid’s phone on. I really don’t want to change to the expensive providers on the O2 network. Should I move to a provider that uses EE, even though that appears to have already switched off 3G?
Would anyone be willing to explain to me in simple words, please.
