The charging port on my fairphone 3 hasn’t been working for the last couple of days. The metal connector slips out of the port on the phone, it doesn’t fit in properly as it used to, no light change or charging. I’ve tried 2 different connectors on my work phone (different brand) and they both work fine. I went to a high street phone repair shop, and the guy took one look at the charging port and said it needs to be replaced but he didn’t have the part. I can’t see that myself, but the fact that the connector won’t physically fit in indicates that it doesn’t just need to be dusted. Any thoughts?
You could post a picture of your port…
Otherwise: replace the bottom module. Not to expensive and easy to change.
I’ve also been having charging issues recently with my almost 5-years old FP3. Assorted tests (different combinations of cables and chargers) led me to believe it not one, but two, particular cables. However, the problem now happens every-now-and-then with some “good” cables (the charger does not seem to matter). Close inspection found some lint/dust in the bumper’s USB-C port opening; cleaning that out seems to have helped, but the problem then happened again.
Whilst I don’t see any contamination inside the USB-C port itself, is there any safe way to clean it?
And thanks for the tip about the Bottom Module! Ordering a replacement from Fairphone would seem to be another solution.
EDIT(added): It is not the battery, which is brand new.
