Fairphone 3 and Skype

Dear community,

It seems impossible to download Skype app from the Google Play store. Did anyone of you also experienced this problem and was able to resolve it?
I already tried any troubleshooting action, e.g. restarting the phone, updating the phone system, restarting the Play store app, checking the space on the phone…

Thank you in advance for your time and support!

Hello, I just tested and downloading Skype from the Play Store works on my FP3

EDIT: what version of the Fairphone are you running?

I also just installed and ran Skype without a problem from the Play Store (default Fairphone OS and Android 13, build 6.A.029.0).

Are you having any specific problems? Can you install other apps of the same size? Have you had Skype installed before?

If you haven’t tried it yet, I can think of trying a different network (if you are connected to Wifi, another wifi network, mobile data…), clearing the Google Play Store app data (cache and storage), unlogging and logging back in to your Google account…

Good luck!

Can you provide some more details in which way it is impossible? Is there no install button? Is there an error when clicking install? Are any other hints displayed? Is it possible that the app is not available in your country/the country Google thinks you’re in? Does it work from other Android devices that are located in the same country?

Thank you all for your contributions. They just told me the Skype app is banned in the country I’m currently in now, so the issue is definitely not related to the phone! Thanks again
