Fairphone 100W charger

In 2025, Fairphone released a 65W charger with three ports.

It’s an excellent idea, but in my opinion, a 100W charger would be even better.

Let me explain.

In a recent YouTube short, Fairphone promoted this 65W charger by showing that it could be used to charge a Fairphone smartphone and a laptop at the same time (in the video, it was a Framework 13). However, the Framework 13 charges at just over 60W and the Fairphone at just over 30W, which far exceeds the charger’s 65W capacity.

Furthermore, with GaN technology already used for the 65W charger, it is possible to make a 100W charger that is not huge.

I therefore think that a 100W charger with a USB-C cable that supports this charging power would be an excellent addition to the brand’s catalogue.

Thank you for reading this far.

Cheers 8/

First, you know the limitation of using the ports of the 65W charger?

  • Only USB-C 1 or USB-C 2: 65 W
  • Only USB-A: 30 W
  • USB-C 1 + USB-C 2: 45 W + 20 W
  • USB-C 1 + USB-A: 45 W + 18 W
  • USB-C 2 + USB-A: 7.5 W + 7.5 W
  • USB-C 1 + USB-C 2 + USB-A: 45 W + 7.5 W + 7.5 W

So if you ask for a 100W charger you have to look how the ports and combination works.

So why you don’t ask for a 300W charger also in GaN technology. There is also max. 100W only in single configuration. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sorry for the link in german:

Hi,

I’m new in the forum and new with a secondhand FP5. To be able to charge the FP5 and other devices i purchased a FP fast charger some days ago. I plugged in my FP in an USB-c slot and plugged a TP-link router in the USB-a slot. After a night charging the TP-link router battery was drained to 9% instead of charged. I then plugged it in another charger but after a full day it only reached 17% charge. Now it always stays below 10%, doesn’t matter witch charger i try.

Could the FP-charger damaged the battery in the TP-link, it looks like it.

My old phone (iphone se 1st gen) can be charged in the USB-a slot, so i can’t really find what happened to the TP-link. Would like too hear an expert on this issue, thank you!

I am proposing this type of product idea knowing full well that other brands are already doing it. What would set Fairphone apart from the rest is its ethical approach and its more environmentally friendly and responsible manufacturing process.

That’s the thing. A 100W charger in the same format (or a little bit biggers) is more than enough for most uses.
