I have just started to use my fairbuds with my steamdeck. They have no problem connecting but after about 5 minutes then headphones turn off and I have to turn them back on again. Once they turn on they connect back on their own.
Is there a setting either on the steamdeck or on the headphones that anyone knows of that may sort this?
I have the same issue… Did you solve it? And do you have a big delay too?
Yep, same issue here (both the disconnection and the delay).
I tried to dig a little to find logs, but I could not find anything so far… From what I saw online, it might be an issue related to PipeWire, but I could not find anything to confirm it.
And from a Fedora desktop, I had no disconnection issue while using PipeWire (still had a fairly big delay).
Ok, i gave it another shot today (and failed miserably), but i noticed some interesting things.
When typing journalctl -xe
, i noticed this error message when the fairbuds are disconnecting :
Apr 26 15:34:50 steamdeck wireplumber[1183]: spa.bluez5.sink.media: 0x7f1a1c124038: error 24
Apr 26 15:34:50 steamdeck wireplumber[1183]: spa.bluez5: Failed to release transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_20_24_04_08_58_AE/sep1/fd1: Method "Release" with signature "" on interface "org.bluez.MediaTransport1" doesn't exist
Apr 26 15:34:50 steamdeck plasmashell[2960]: org.kde.plasma.pulseaudio: No object for name "bluez_output.20_24_04_08_58_AE.1"
Apparently some other bluetooth earbuds have this issue as well, but i did not find any solution. I tried wpctl settings --save bluetooth.autoswitch-to-headset-profile false
, but that did not do anything except soften a little the disconnection.
Another weird thing is when i connect the earbuds, there is either no voice that says “connected” or a voice saying “disconnected” (yet the sound comes through the earbuds just fine). Which is probably why the fairbuds are disconnecting after a while, it probably does not register as “connected” and times out after a while to save power.
I guess the issue might be solved by ditching pipewire and installing pulseaudio instead, but I need root privileges and I don’t know the deck password
Type “passwd deck” in the konsole. It should ask for a new password, type in a new one and the sudo password will be changed to it
