Fairbuds sound quality opinions?

I’m just wondering, looking at the Valentine’s day deal (25% off on audio) what the verdict is of the Fairbuds (non XL) of people who having been using them? I am now trying some cheap JBL TWS buds that I bought second-hand and I hate them, and for €75 I could be persuaded to try the Fairbuds.

If there are Fairbuds users here, what do you think, especially about connection stability, listening quality and calling quality? In that order of priority

Let me know if this is not a suitable new topic, but I see a lot of phone review threads, and not many (especially recent) of the Fairbuds, so I was just wondering what people think!

Basic sound is very flat. I tuned them via Wavelet equalizer app which helped a lot to improve the sound to my liking.

Connectivity is ok, but range is not really good. When I walk into my kitchen I loose the connection while I have no problem with any other headset I own.

Mic quality is actually ok, but the ANC sometimes cancels out my voice, a bug which wasn’t solved yet.

Keep in mind: if you watch video, the latency of the Fairbuds is quite high. At some point the voice is not lip synchronous anymore.

Strangely, reviewers seem unusually divided: the results of these eight tests range from “pretty good” to “pretty bad”.

I’ve bought them and returned them. The sound quality is quite poor, even the equalizer in the app doesn’t help very much. Connectivity is even worse. Sometimes they lost connection although I was only 5 meters away in the same room. Telephone calls were literally impossible because of microphone problems. I didn’t even manage to do one single call, where people could understand me.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing. I love my FP6, and it works flawlessly. But I never would recommend anybody to buy these Fairbuds.

I got them for free with my Fairphone 6 and the sound quality is really poor, I will never use them. Something like Galaxy Buds FE 3 or Galaxy Buds Pro 3 (which can sometimes be had on discount) will blow them out of the water in terms of sound quality and ANC. But of course, they are not repairable.

Fairbuds XL OTOH are pretty good for the price in terms of sound quality (ANC is not the best though).

Thanks! I now have the JBL 125TWS and I really dislike everything about them, so the Fairbuds may be better  It’s honestly between those and an old fashioned pair of wired earbuds at the moment (also saves 90% of the ecological footprint I guess)

Range is less of a problem for me, since I usually pocket my phone when I have earbuds on.

Eh that sounds less nice, I thought Android sort of compensated for this, at least it does for my BT headphones.

Thanks, that sounds pretty bad

Yeah a friend of mine has them and he’s very happy with it, good sound and connectivity he says. I already have NC headphones (Sony) that I got 5 years ago, I’m mostly looking for earbuds for outdoors when I dislike wearing headphones (and ideally something with an IP rating, which my headphones don’t have).

But thanks, I think you convinced me together about the sound quality. I suppose I will get wired headphones for now. My JBLs are a terrible experience, they disconnect all the time and right is louder than left, don’t charge well… I’m happy I got them second-hand.

I recently sentido muy Fairbuds for repair, since left one was not charging. They were replaced (reporting no spare parts available).

The FairbudsI are my first TWS headset, even my first ANC headset, so I cannot compare with other models. I was hoping for improvements after the replacement, but to no avail: specially on call quality, I cannot use them for calls, as the other person nearly always complain they cannot understand my words (somebody above, and in other thread, has mentioned ANC algorithm canceling own voice). Battery capacity allows for about 4h30 for music listening with ANC on (and not 6h, as advertised).

Connectivity is fine to me, though 7m and 2 thin brick walls in between throws it down.

The app for controlling the equalizer does not work at all for me, nor for some other users.

I have written Fairphone 2 times, and no answer so far (a month). It doss not seem like a supported product anymore (I hope I am wrong here)

Honestly, and sadly, I cannot recommend the product.

This doesn’t sound too bad.

My Samsung Galaxy Buds FE (which actually have excellent reviews) aren’t really usable for phone calls either. And although I haven’t timed it precisely, I doubt they last longer than about 4.5 hours.

You might want to try the headphone equalizer Wavelet — I use it with my Galaxy Buds and I’m quite happy with the sound.

They have been fairly okay so far, they’re usable for listening, but for the mic, they’re not usable: like someone already said, the ANC sometimes cuts off our voice completely, a bug that hasn’t been fixed so far, so if you want to do heavy calls on them and don’t have an alternative mic, I would rethink this choice (unfortunately).

Myself most of the time I just use the laptop mic and use them for listening only—but, to be fair, I also do that with other headsets, so. It just works better.

I would probably buy them again (for sustainability and repairability) though.
