I am curious where the batteries go.
“The last earbuds you will ever need” was the promise for the last ones. I hope they ship a product without major flaws this time and actually they should also provide a discount for the users of the old Fairbuds but I doubt they will do that, unfortunately.
couldn’t agree more. They released a faulty product and never worried about it…
I’m really excited about these Fairbuds 2! I’ve been looking to buy Fairphone earbuds for a while, but I just kept hearing bad things about the first iteration. Hopefully, they have addressed these issues in the new version. In terms of software, things will probably stay the same. I’ve heard that the app is problematic…
There is a new teaser on social media

Including the screenshot for those who don’t wish to go there
but the free fairbuds promo just got extended for a week - till 4/10, so I guess no launch before that
Rumoured to launch on 14 October

A full reveal of the Fairbuds 2 is planned for October 14th, but we can confirm the new version will carry forward the same focus on repairability that made the original Fairbuds so unique with “seven fully replaceable and modular parts.” The new Fairbuds 2 will also expand their Bluetooth capabilities with added support for Sony’s high-resolution and adaptive LDAC codec. The original Fairbuds only supported the SBC and AAC codecs, similar to Apple’s AirPods.
Fairphone says the Fairbuds 2 will launch in Europe first for €119, followed by a US release where they’ll be available for $119. The first-generation Fairbuds were priced at €149 when they debuted in 2024, or around $162 at the time, but have since come down in price to $99.99 in the US.
It seems like modularity will not increase then (assuming that the “seven … parts” refers to Fairbuds 2). The original Fairbuds consist of 7-8 (depending on if you count each bud or both as one) replaceable parts, so it might stay the same breakdown or perhaps even without the silicone rings if they found a way to do without these.
I dare to disagree. Seven is in the inverted commas so it is the reference, not the information. I would have bolded this instead
will carry forward the same focus on repairability
The Fairbuds info page got updated
Edited to add that Fairbuds 1 got discontinued - in Europe.
