"Extreme Battery Saver" Unavailable/Disabled in FP4?

This is a feature of stock android but the location in settings where every guide/forum/post says to look, it doesn’t exist on my phone. I’ve even seen screenshots that are identical to my settings menu, save for that one option, “Extreme Battery Saver” (and the option to change back to standard) mode, missing. And yes, I’ve tried “long pressing” on everything, nothing appears.

Has the dev team decided to disable this feature? Is there some sort of critical hardware that will melt if extreme battery saver is used on a fairphone? If there’s not a good reason for it, I’m considering getting it back the hard way and just rooting my phone, despite the risk, as battery life is not great on this phone.

Battery saver is under settings-Battery. You can also switch on/off through the quick settings menu, by pulling down from the top. Dont know what extreme battery saver should be.

I’ve just googled it, and the tutorial I saw was for Android 14. FP4 is still on Android 13 unfortunately, so maybe extreme battery saver isn’t available on A13?

It is an OEM feature. So samsung, sony, google can specificly add it to their version of android, it is not a part of AOSP

No, it’s not exclusive to Android 14+. My ancient huawei running 7 has an “ultra battery saver mode” that turned the screen black&white and disabled the entire interface except for 6 apps, while greatly reducing background processing.

From what Furdiburd said though, it seems this feature might be OEM specific. Considering FP also doesn’t have a notification led and AOD customization is so limited (among many other bare-bones software features), I’m likely going to just root when I have spare time.
