Display - lines and 'lace' patterns appearing

Hello there,

Increasingly, my display is showing faults. There are times when patterns appear over the screen, but then they do fade after a few seconds. Other times, vertical lines start to appear, gradually increasing in number until the screen goes blank. Also, periodically, the phone won’t come on, or at least the screen won’t come on. The phone will be on as when I insert a speaker jack, the screen then come on.

Is it time to get a new display or are these symptoms of something else?
