Display apps in "Home screen"

Hi there, I just switched from FP5 to FP4 and reinstalled my apps. I wanted them to show like they were on my previous phone, which I did manually but after restart (twice), all the apps went back to where all the other apps are. I hope it makes sense. That is instead of having a few apps available on my main (home) screen I have to scroll down and find what I need amongst all the other. Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you.

Welcome to the Fairphone community.

As far as I understand your description, you are talking about the app drawer, where all your installed apps show up, and you can place them on the home Screen (or one of them), but they disappear after a restart?

Do you use the same operating system on both phones? Which is it?

Thank you.
Android 14 on the FP5 and Android 13 on the FP4. I am not sure this relevant as I assume Android 13 was on the FP5 before.

So we are talking about the standard OS delivered by Fairphone?

No modifications? Default launcher? And the app icons only disappear after a restart?

Can you describe a little bit more detailed, what you are doing?

Yes, to your first, second and third queries .
I rearranged my icons as I liked them to be, but after restart they all went back with all the other ones, in the main drawer (if this is what you’re calling it). Not a bit deal but slightly annoying.

Just one general comment: when moving them to the Homescreen they dont vanish from the App drawer they are always all there…

how did you set -up, with a back-up or from scratch? Do you use an SD card and how is it formatted? And is it for all Apps so none stays on the homescreen?

Yes, thank you, I realise that they are still there but, as I said, it is not very convenient.
I did a transfer from my old phone so I didn’t reinstall them from scratch.

Oh, just the Google stuff stays on the home screen.

As this is not normal, I guess that might be somehow caused by the backup, so I would favtory reset and start without back-up… Surely back-up your data before

Thank you, I thought so. This is what I am doing now, it is tedious, but it seems to be working. Thank you anyway.
