Hi,
I heard about a non-google tap-to-pay solution that should work even with some community OS:s. Curve (curve.com).
Well, have been trying it with my stock Android FP4. Can add a card nicely, but then it gets stuck in “enabling tap-to-pay”.
So, a simple question: has anybody used Curve Pay in FP4?
Nice to hear that it might work.
I still have no luck, I even can’t define the Curve app as a tap-to-pay method…
I have rebooted the phone and the app, uninstalled Google Wallet, nothing seems to help. Well, it is what it is.
Two things that differ or might differ between your FP4 and @jobal’s:
/e/OS for the FP4 is on Android 14, Fairphone’s Android OS for the FP4 is on Android 13. The Curve entry in the Play Store names Android 9 as the minimum though.
Gaël Duval’s article on using Curve specified it as a “a European (EEA + UK) fintech provider”. I don’t know in how far this might rule you out or not.
Thanks, I’m in the EAA indeed. Addind a card wasn’t a problem, just enabling the tap-to-pay…
(would be nice seeing it work, that would remove another – imaginary? – barrier in switching to some community os.)
True, I also spent quite a lot of time researching and I came to the conclusion that I really dont need such apps. also because my bank does not really support such things.
