Since the latest update (FP5.UT20.B.041.20240624) on my stock FP5, when I open in a app a file, I cant’t chosse any nore with which app I like to search for the file (eg, Imagepite or Gallery). Only Dropbox and othet “Filesystem” like apps are show in the list.
Is this a new “feature” or how to do this?

You could try File Explorer Pro. It supports most file types, has its built-in player, is cross platform, and connects to other devices as well. Just a few types are not supported due to things like encryption. Not to mention a free version is available. Hope this helps you decide to try other file explorers instead of the default one. Sometimes features get removed that people are still using. I remember the midi sound file was removed after windows me a while ago. A lot of older games relied on this file type.

So this feature was just removed? Feels like the apps are just locked out.
I tried FE File Explorer Pro (could not find the free version). It did not change the file picker. Did I miss a setting?
As a file manager, I personaly found it clumsy. I prefere Total Commander.
On the default file picker, I mostly miss Imagepipe and Fossify Gallery.
You can sideload the free version of that program. Google has taken the free version down for a random reason a couple years back.you can still sideload the free version. If you don’t like sideloading; you can always use the alternative program of your choice. ES File explorer is the older version of that very program. It seems a lot of applications have been removed from the play store as of late. I’m noticing it more as I look up apps i used long ago. (They really want you to subscribe to google one and that’s a no for me. I prefer my stuff offline thank you.) The main reason im used to file explorers is I’ve been a tech geek since the 90’s and am used to storing things in folders and look them up again later since windows 95-98 era. So I’m used to clunky explorer programs. If i grew up in the 80’s. You had to look stuff via command line in DOS. Boy am I old. But wise in a good way.
Feature don’t removed, but maybe changed or need additional permission/settings/… ?
System file picker show me Aves, SimpleGallery,etc… if i try add attachement in Spark email app…
But if try open from text editor (which too use system file picker) Aves,SimpleGallery is not show and in side is extra only GoogleDrive and Termux
EDIT: i don’t use Imagepipe, but maybe similar Scrambled Exif and this also show me in side in Spark app
