Contacts must be facing down, can you access another FP3 to compare?
Otherwise as DeepSea considered maybe the spring has dislodge unless there could be some other debis/obstruction.

Just a thought. The FF3 is pretty good for self repairs. Is this something that I can do myself?

Why not contact Fairphone? It seems to be a warranty case…

You can check via IFixit but the operation will probably void the warranty.
Yes it is indeed a warranty case and I have discussed the matter fully with Support. The trouble is that I will have to send the phone to France and Lord knows how long it will be coming back to me.
