Can't charge or turn on the phone

Hi,

Maybe a stupid question if I do something wrong but…
I just received the new Fairphone 6 and carefully unpacked it.
It looks completely fine but…
It does not react when I press the power button, neither do I get any indication for charging when I attach a charger.
Using my common USB-C charger I used for several other phones before.

Can’t reach the support in chat yet, is there anything I can do wrong at this point or do I just have a broken device ?

further thought:
the battery might not be connected but I didn’t expect that I will need to open it in order to connect the battery first, also considering that no tool got delivered with the phone.
I don’t have any tool either to open the back cover.

Best Regards

If you read and followed the user manual then it should just work. If not: Leave it connected a little bit longer to the charger and see if anything changes/charges. Hold the button to turn on the phone. If all that doesn’t help, remove the battery, you may also press the power button then to discharge any capacitors, then put the battery back in.
Disclaimer: Those are some standard actions I’m listing here, not specific to FP6.
If all that doesn’t help, get back to the support…

thank you for your reply and time.
It’s connected now for nearly one hour but nothing changed.
I could try to remove the battery or check if it’s not properly connected but I am lacking a tool to do so… have to try later.
But at least you agree with me that this is not normal behavior
Also still waitng if I can get the support

Try a different USB charger and/or different cable. Sometimes there are incompatibilities. I use a Samsung one I’ve had for years with a good quality USB-C cable.

Also thank you for your Reply and time.
I tried to turn it on later in the evening today, seems to be the solution in my case was just to keep it on the charger for a few hours more.
Not sure if this is normal, maybe you are right and I should try other chargers.
But in general the topic is solved, thank you at everyone.
