Cannot install Super Mario Run

I can’t install Super Mario Run (a official Mario game by Nintendo) on my FP2 running OpenOS + XPosed + OpenGApps pico, although the game only requires Android 4.2 and is already released in Austria.

THIS IS A CATASTROPHE!! :sob:

 But for real, why isn’t this possible? When I open the Play Store, the first thing I see is a giant banner saying “Play Super Mario Run now!” and when I click on it, it says “Not found”. However, on play.google.com it says that my device is compatible with the game, and I can click on install, but nothing happens on my phone. This is strange…

I’ve got it installed but I’m not running openos

It seems that Super Mario Run doesn’t work on rooted devices. See for example here, here (the file is decompiled from the apk), here or here.

Same and when I installed the APK from apkmirror.com the app closes after the splash screen.

Seems like an issue with the graphics drivers, but a friend with a HTC One M8 (also Snapdragon 801) has the same issue so it looks like a broader problem with the game.

I tried the

guide, but unfortunately, it didn’t work :frowning:

Let’s hope Bowser isn’t too mean to princess Peach…

EDIT:
Apparently, ther is an App calles “Magisk” on the Play Store which lets you hide Root from Super Mario Run!

All I can say now is
LET’S’A GO!

EDIT-EDIT:
I can only play until level 2 max, because I get the Error 804-5100 which has to do something with root. This can be prevented by deleting a file in the /data/data/com.nintendo.zara folder, but since this file gets recreated by the game relatively quickly, it locks itself after level 1. The workaround for this also doesn’t work (creating and syncing with the game after deleting the file), but at least I got until level 2 and so I have seen almost half of the free levels. I deleted it and will download an emulator

Get a proper Gameboy and play on a real console!

What a bummer. Why do app developers block their apps on rooted devices and lock out many users?

(No, my smartphone is not rooted yet.)

Because you can cheat easily with root.

Well then disable the multiplayer but nobody should care if you cheat in single player… So just let the players play in singleplayer…

Do game developers really think that all rooters are cheaters?

And what should users do if their device is rooted? Buy a second device without root?

(Then some users need to carry 4 smartphones: One “main” for personal usage, one for work, one for banking and one for gaming. Luckily, I do not use my smartphone for work, banking and Mario/Pokémon, so I only need one smartphone.)

I am pretty sure it’s also about copy protection :policeman:.
