I wanted to use the App “SoundTap” that allows my to skip songs on Spotify by holding the volume up button, but it only works when the screen is on or Always-On Display in in effect. This would be immensely useful for me because I often try to fall asleep listening to spotify (noisy apartment, trying to drown out the traffic noise) and it goes without saying that turning my phone on to skip songs I don’t like the nornal way would kind of defeat the purpose. I’m looking for a way to do that with my eyes closed and the phone locked and if Always-On Display were available in the Fairphone 5 system settings - which it is currently not - I could use SoundTap to do exactly that. So please for the love of god bring that option back for people like me who really need it.
Even though many people here will agree with you, they won’t be able to help you, as this is a user forum. Please write to the Fairphone support:
I have iodéOS installed on my FP3+ so I don’t know whether it is something included in stock Android or just the iodéOS defaults, but in the swipe-down toolbar wotsits where you have things like torch, airplane mode etc., I have a thing called Caffeine (you may need to swipe left to see the extended set of tools or go into the settings to add it). Each successive touch on the Caffeine icon increases the no-sleep time by increments, e.g. 5 mins, 10 mins, 30 mins or infinite, i.e. always-on.
Alternatively you might want to look at controlling your media player remotely from another device via bluetooth or KDE Connect or somesuch, or even plugging an audio-out cable with a switch that allows you to click x number of times to skip back/forwards.
Very sad. Here are the users. Here are the friends of Fairphone. Here we discuss what these users like, what they don’t like. What works well, what doesn’t work. A goldmine for the manufacturer.
And nobody from Fairphone is really reading here? Is nobody interested? The marketing department wouldn’t have to guess what the users want. They could just read about it here.
They are reading here. They have made two statements on here about the AoD in particular.
As for how interested they are in our opinions, well… that’s up to you to decide, but in my opinion they don’t care. They’ve done too many oopsies like these for that.
That was the statement from “mgkoeln”. And others. So the repeated statement that nobody reads along is not true?
Then perhaps the users concerned should be informed of this.
They might read however its a user forum and to report feature requests or issues you must contact support so the statement of @mgkoeln was correct
“They /might/ read…” brings us back to “Very sad. Here are the users…”
If you want to make sure that your suggestion/request/technical problem is officially registered, you need to open a support ticket. That’s just how it works.
My intention here wasn’t to rebuff any forum users or to find any excuses for Fairphone’s business practice, but to help you to to get your legitimate request about AoD to the correct recipient.
