When taking a picture the screen says ‘processing’ for a while and then the taken picture disappears - it is not stored.
I updated the OS to the latest and reset the camera to factory defaults - but that did not help.

Just found another hint - i cannot even save screenshots - it says only as notification ‘couldn’t save screenshot’ - there is tons of space on the device …

Is there an SD card in your FP4? If yes, is it formatted as “phone storage”? This formatting allows to move complete apps to the card, but it has kept producing problems like the ones you describe (at least in the past).
P.S.: By the way, your user profile says you have an FP5 – if that is not correct, you might want to change this.
thanks for the hint!! Yes - there is - in file manager it says : <sd card formatted as internal storage’ - it used to work up to recently though - can i reset it somehow ?
You can re-format the SD card to “portable storage” which does not allow to move a whole app to the card, but data (like photos, videos, music files etc.). But bear in mind re-formatting erases all data on the card, so if you reformat, backup the data before.
