I would like to know if there is any advantage in buying a Fairphone 6+ with pre-installed /e/OS over just buying one with Android and installing it myself. I have installed CalyxOS and LineageOS in the past, so I’m no stranger to custom ROMs. Is there any other advantage in terms of warranty, security or app compatibility when buying with pre-installed /e/OS, or is it just a matter of convenience. It is a difference of 50€, so I would like to know what exactly that money buys me.
If you buy from the Fairphone webshop directly and you wish to use the warranty repair, I believe you are required to bring the device back to the original OS
(the one you purchased it with).
I think if you buy from the Murena webshop, the warranty rules might be different - further limited when changing the OS but that seems to varies between regions.
Edited for better clarity.
I thought the extra 50 was for Murena…
Buying with /e/OS preinstalled you
- get direct support from Murena
- financially support the Murena project
