Anyone else annoyed that the order of “saved devices” in the bluetooth settings is completely random? Every day my I have to search through the list to find my headset / car / stereo, and it’s never om the same place (and annoyingly never among the three devices shown in the main menu). Has anyone figured out what the sorting order actually is? Anyways, sorting by name or last connected should have been a no-brainer.
Surprised to see that no-one else on the forum has commented on this.
You’re not alone with this issue. I’ve had the same experience. Though, in my case it’s slightly less annoying, because I only have 3 bluetooth devices saved in the first place. But yes, the order is seemingly random, and sometimes it results in the phone not auto connecting to my most frequently used device, my fairbuds.
I’ve never commented about it on this forum, because it’s more of a general android issue. The android open source project (AOSP) is suuuuper barebones and basic. Which is what FairphoneOS is based on.
And Fairphone doesn’t seem to be interneted in customising it and patching it around until it’s default kinks are ironed out.
Because my phone doesn’t seem to autoconnect to nearby devices unless it’s the device I was connected to most recently. I need to manually select the device I want to connect to, and over time the list of saved devices has become fairly long (there are 17 devices in my list currently).
I dont have an issue with auto connection to BT devices.
My list tends to be crowded as well due to rental cars, so I just clean what I dont need from time to time.
So honestly it seems to me that your problem is rather the unusual failure to autoconnect BT devices than an unsorted BT list.
You might try to reset Bluetooth and WLAN settings in settings → system → reset options. But sure, this would delete the entire list of known BT devices and Wifi networks…
