Yes it should. Data transfer occurs via the MTP protocol which is used in all modern Android phones. There are many applications available on Mac to work with MTP phones. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol#macOS) there is built-in support for MTP in the Digital Images application, which I suppose you can use to import photos from your phone’s camera.
