App lounge not possible

Hello,
As of today, I can no longer load any apps from App Lounge. I have a Fairphone 3+, system version 12. I get the message that the anonymous account is no longer available. I should renew the account. Clicking on Renew Session shows no success. Who can help me?

When you write App lounge you mean the App store from e/OS?

Are you aware that Murena had tremendous issues with all their server?

What exactly are you running? Please refer to [HOWTO] Give complete /e/OS version info easily for support, answers, comparison etc - eOSWiki - /e/OS community

This can happen from time to time.
It happens with Aurora Store, too, occasionally, from which App Lounge copied how to access the Google Play Store anonymously.

True, latest status I’m aware of was

App lounge :- Open Source download not working. At present, we do not have an ETA on restoration of service.

But this sounds like the Google Play Store part should work again, while there’s still work to do on integrating the F-Droid part again.

I actually just updated two apps via the App Lounge, one from F-Droid (VLC) and the other from the Play Store. However, I’m on the latest /e/OS-T (Android 13).

This is great to hear. How did you achieve this?

I am also on latest e/OS/ 2.4.1-t-20241008439851-official-FP3 and deleted all Applounge (archived and cache) data, rebooted, but keep getting this message.

From all I hear, the “relief” I experienced was just temporary and the problems still persist.

I guess it’s time to mention that users fed up with App Lounge can just use F-Droid and Aurora Store, the functions of which App Lounge integrates … at least when it works.
Of course these are two Apps instead of one, and not default Apps installed and maintained by the OS, but at least they work as intended halfway consistently. Much less drama over time.

If Aurora works fine, that’s great as well. I thought AppLounge anonimous access just to replicate that. Other than that, the one work around was installing this Monkey script and trying all buttons from alternative APK providers. Exactly one worked (others seemingly though but downloading other or broken APKs).

Good to know that Aurora Store and F-Droid have the same functions. So just to be sure, even if they are not default pre-installed apps, there is really no problem or risk using them instead of App Lounge ? No risk that they’ll “forget” some installed apps when checking for updates, or stuff like that ?

Thanks for you answers !

Default Apps get updates via new OS versions.
F-Droid and Aurora Store will update the Apps you installed with them respectively. Both Apps provide settings for how you want them to handle updates.

Aurora Store by default will furthermore attempt to update every App it recognizes. To keep yourself in control and to prevent possible conflicts with either the OS itself or with F-Droid, you should use Aurora Store’s blacklist setting to restrict it to updating only the Apps you want it to update.
