App does not see battery/firmware status of Fairbuds [Android]

And… suddenly… The app began to work? How so? I don’t know, I did not change anything…

Has there been any updates on this? I’m still not seeing version number or battery levels in the app…

Hi, I bought a pair of Fairbuds, and for me, the Fairbuds app shows N/A for battery charge level and firmware version (location services are on) but in the “quick settings” under the bluetooth symbol, it says “Fairbuds Akkustand 90%”, so the information is transported, but the app doesn’t show it.

What is the latest version of the App? I think I have version 2.1, from a non-google source (APKPure).

Any chance of open-sourcing the app and distributing it e.g. via F-Droid? I haven’t followed Fairphone so closely since my Fairphone 1 quit working, but wasn’t there the idea of “fair software” part of the approach?

Hey OP and others, ive been having issues with my fairbuds products that can be found here including this one discussed here, is there anyone here still facing this issue like me? Thanks to a moderator unlocking this thread again, we are able to keep discussing this ever present issue. Please do let support know about this if you are still experiencing it

I just bought new ones and activated the location tracking and restarted the app, then the infos are shown.

But my issue is, why do I even need the location activated all the time?
My other bluetooth headsets don’t need this to work with their apps.
I have left location for different reasons like privacy and tracking off.

New Android APIs need this to have functionality like battery stat of headphone in an app. Location is not just GPS - navigation.

I’ve seen this before, so I don’t think it is Fairphone engineers doing something dodgy. I agree it’s not a great compromise, but Google would have to fix this (by splitting BLE and GPS into two permissions). I don’t know why BLE relies on Location Services.

But why does it work without on my Jailbirds for example?
On the same Phone.
I see the battery status and can use the equalizer of the Jaybird App
