Antenna ports for external cellular

I would like to know how to hook up an external cellular antenna even if it means using micro soldering tips to link up to a spring or test port. I have done this in the past. How can this be done ? The schematics are rather weak as to this layout.

I am troubled and insulted there is no way to hook up external cellular antenna. I believe this is because the engineers probably live in the city and don’t realize that more than 50% of people are in rural areas with little to no coverage and use amplifiers and external antennas on their cars and trucks.

I am also concerned that the latest version of phone is starting to lean more toward the iPhone closed format and features are being lost. Do others feel this way

if I remember correctly, the FP5 has got the most user-replaceable modules in its design so far.

Not sure why one would be outright insulted. But yes Fairphone tries to keep in mind a lot of things – making phones for the outback is certainly/unfortunately not one of them. Either way I too would be interested in getting my hands on premium schematics.

Where were you @scott_tighe getting yours from and have you contacted FP support yet?

Since you are insulted i am wondering what smartphones you used over the years that had the external antenna feature and if any of them came from a major brand.
Or do you mean all engineers insulted you.

Welcome to the community.

There may be solutions that don’t require a soldering job. Try searching for mobile phone signal boosters.

And what about Wi-Fi Calling?

Could only find those for the FP5 so far:

As for the Fairphone 4:

As for the Fairphone 3/3+:

Fairphone didn’t publish schematics for the Fairphone 3/3+, supposedly for legal reasons .
