Perhaps the LED blinker app would work for you. I tried it but it somehow interfered with me unlocking the phone (not sure why).
But I never used AoD so I am not really affected here.
I really hope they reconsider the decision. For me AoD is the best opportunity to check notifications fast and easy.
I - like a lot of others here - donāt understand why this feature has been removed instead of letting the users decide if they want to live with the higher power consumption or not.
My feeling is that you need to have plenty of people contacting the support on that regard. If the numbers are high, there might be the momentum to bring the change. I do not think the forum threads are a sufficient way to press for the change.
Itās been ten days. Did they ever get back to you or did the communication fail in that regard as well?
I wrote back to them replying to the quoted message.
(summarized) that this is unacceptable (they set my ticket to solved), and I completely lost my trust in them after FP3 fingerprint and now this.
This is the next reply (07.25) I got:
Iām truly sorry to hear about your frustration. I understand that having a feature removed after purchase is disappointing and feels like a breach of trust. While the decision to remove the Fairphone 3 fingerprint unlock feature was influenced by changes from Google, I recognize that this does not change your experience.
Your feedback is invaluable, and I want to assure you that your concerns are being heard. We strive to improve and will take your comments seriously to better understand and address the needs of our customers.
I have forwarded this to our department, along with feedback from other customers, to review it and look into possibly reintroducing this in a future update.
Your satisfaction is important to us, and we hope to find a way to restore your trust in Fairphone.
This still sound to me like a heap of nothing, but realistically support can only do this, forward.
Hope for the bestā¦ maybe the intern who seems to responsible for the ādepartmentā can uncomment the line of codeā¦
I already wrote fairphone suport about this.
Response?
Ticket closed without any
@Furdiburd That is not very kind indeed. Butā¦

I guess your input has been included in the feedback mentioned here.
The update went smoothly for me and everything is quick and snappy.
But I was hoping to see some improvements in the camera app, but hopefully the future will bring some updates (would love to see focus peaking and raw support )
Anyone have issues updating to Android 14? My phone is on 13 and cannot see thereās an available update, even when I click āCheck for updatesā. It says it is up to date on Android 13.
Any suggestions?
And your provider is in which contry?
Hello, it seems youāre on FP4. It is due to receive the update in September. Regardless the email you might have received from the company
I moved the post here, as it was placed in the FP5 help category and the title was āMy FP5ā¦ā so it might also be A14 is not the first update that did not come throughā¦
I understand but @nez242 indicates in their profile FP4 plus May update is more likely to be the last one for FP4.
Hadnāt seen the previous post before though. Definitely it made sense to move it here.
Cheers. Good point. Didnāt notice that. Iāll have to wait until September then.
About the Aod problem:
If you start a timer in the clock with a notification then when you shut off the screen it will dim like the Aod and show the time + notification , but in color + you need to have a timer running.
This could be a workaround.
Just wanted to say, without wanting to trivialise the frustration that others are feeling, Iām happy with the update.
Itās a, nice, small version update. I like the expanded appearance/palette settings, would have liked a customisable lock screen clock but ah well.
I disabled Google Wallet on the lock screen right away but it does not seem to work though? The icon is still there, I had hoped it would disappear just like the āhome devicesā button disappeared with the other setting (I donāt like either button on the lock screen). Is the Wallet setting bugged or am I misunderstanding?
Iām also happy they took the time to address some long standing FP issues like the minimum volume. That was one of my biggest pet peeves with the software.
So all in all, Iām happy with it, but I hope for the others that their frustrations are heard and addressed!
Wondering if this works for those only who had AoD enabled, because for me the notification is visible for a second only. Also wondering when clock and notification stay at the same place for hours can this cause burn in?
The bug is discussed here
Has anyone heard anything about the USB webcam feature of Android 14? There were tons of articles about it being included on Android 14, however I did not see that option after upgrading. When I connected my Fairphone 5 to a PC, the usual selection of charging/transfer modes were shown.
Is it an optional feature of Android 14 and was not built for Fairphone 5, or just a Pixel exclusive that was marketed in a misleading way?
For FP4, support said the webcam feature is not implemented for A14. It might be in the future, though.
