Amaze cannot write although permissions are "rwx"

I try to copy some files from internal storage to SD card using the pre-installed Amaze. I have created a folder on the SD card (using PC and “mount SD card” option), and in the listings, this folder’s permissions are given as “rwx”. Nevertheless, I can neither paste anything there, nor can I create a new folder. The error is titled “Write access requested” with the text “Please choose the root directory of /storage/sdcard1/Backups to grant write access to operate”.
