Adding own dial tone - file format?

I’m trying to add my own ring tone for the phone from the ‘+ Add ringtone’ drop-down menu . I have the ring tone on the device as an .mp3 file. However the phone does not recognise (or see) the file. Anyone know what format this sound file should be?

In which folder is the mp3 file? My mp3 files are detected I have them in the Ringtones and notifications folder

I wrote earlier:

They are in my Music folder. But since I’m asked to navigate to (any) folder, I don’t see why that should matter - should it?

OK, I see where I went wrong. There are folders, and internal (to FP) folders. I can now see my imported file on the options list, having put it in the ‘Ringtones’ folder.
