Got my screen protector privacy, and I am quite happy with it. The only thing I found silly was that it does not Brin instructions (which kind of does not need) but days to go to the Fairphone.com/gen6-accessories website, which does not have instructions on this accessory .
Is it a real problem? Not at all. But still there should be at least a reference to the product.
Well, this definitely became a problem for me. Was ca four years since I installed a protection, I donāt remember which of the two plastic sheets is the one to go on the phone, both have one sticky side⦠The red sticker had a very small text (at the time I had no other phone or magnifying glass). The official web instruction linked from a QR code on the package was for v4. It had no red sticker at all.
I followed the video, when pulling the sheets apart I put the protective part on the table and applied the wrong (thin) one⦠I probably put a thumb on a bad place, when realizing this and switched sheet it it was definitely wasted. Tried to clean an reapply in many ways, no chance.
What an unpleasing unboxing. First impression lasts. I made wrong, but Iām mostly worried that quality assurance was this sloppy, leaving a manual out, and at the same time not ensuring a proper online manual or video. And I definitely hope that other guys deal with quality issues regarding phone software and hardware.
Unfortunately, I am not happy at all, I just wasted another one more protection since there is still no instruction and it is freaking hard (if you are not a surgeon) to position it right due to the raised edge around the screen. I ended up 0,1 mm outside the edge, having to lift it up (it is not really possible to adjust it sideways when itās attached), and then a single dust fragment slipped inside, and game over. Again.
And I then saw that the package include āguide stickersā, Do you think that everyone in the world knows how use them? At least I have never heard of those, but looking it up afterwards I understand that this would have ensured a proper positioning. If there was an instructionā¦
I urge anyone who experiences the same issue to make use of your consumer rights and file a claim, as missing or insufficient instructions clearly constitute a defect under EU consumer law.
Has someone managed to find a good guideline for this? I donāt even feel like trying without knowing where the stickers go, so I feel like I wasted money for the protector right now..
I found on video instructions for other phones (e.g. this video), that the guide stickers can be used as a temporary hinge for the screen protector. You position it with the backing layer still on, when it will slide around, and put the guide stickers over the edge. Then flip it away attached to the guide stickers, clean the screen, remove the backing plastic layer, and flip the protector back onto the screen.
Itās fiddly to get right, though. I moved the phone a bit too much while cleaning the screen, and the screen protector came off the stickers, so I had to start again. And you need the screen absolutely dust-free for the rigid screen protector to adhere properly all over. If you get a bubble, you can carefully lever it up , clean that spot more and try again, but each time you do this more dust can turn up.
