3D-printable ear cushion spacer — looking for measurements and collaborators

Hi everyone,

I find the ear cushions on my Fairbuds XL (2nd generation) a bit shallow, and I suspect I’m not the only one — I’ve seen several threads here requesting thicker cushions or differently sized options from Fairphone.

Since Fairphone hasn’t offered alternative sizes, I’d like to design a 3D-printable spacer ring that sits between the speaker housing and the ear cushion, effectively adding a few millimeters of depth. The modular twist-lock design should make this feasible in principle.

Before I start, I’m looking for:

  • Measurements: Has anyone already measured the hook-and-slot interface on the speaker side and the cushion’s plastic base? Precise dimensions of the hooks, slot positions, and outer diameter would save a lot of trial and error.
  • Interest: Would anyone else find this useful, or want to collaborate on the design?

I’m also considering reaching out to Fairphone support to ask whether they’d be willing to share dimensions or a technical drawing of the attachment mechanism. If anyone has had success getting that kind of information from them, I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance!
