I’ve had the same issue after the last update, but my phone did not notify me to let me know it was no longer using wifi, but the 5G network. I only found out after I received a message from my network provider that I was over my limit. So now my bundle has expired on the 5th day of the new month, I’m already € 30 over my data limit and I have no internet whenever I leave the house… great…
This problem stopped for a good few weeks and has now started again for the past few days. The WiFi slider won’t stay on and resetting the Internet doesn’t work, only rebooting
Hi @ZeroSignal
If I understand correctly you’re running eOS whereas this topic is (as far as I know) about the stock FPOS Android.
To avoid confusion it might be a good idea to have a look over on the Murena forum. There’s a topic for feedback on the 3.1.4 release here.
Example of a similar problem to yours here.
Updating from my previous message, disabling WiFi and Bluetooth scanning didn’t help. I also tried to enable WPA3 on my router and reset wifi configs to see if anything changes but the wifi still stops at random times and comes back with a reboot.
I also noticed that there is a much higher battery consumption while the wifi is not working. I still couldn’t figure out what triggers the problem.
If your phone is constantly scanning for Wi-Fi that takes a lot of energy from your battery.
Is it possible that there is a time limit for the Wi-Fi on your router?
The battery drain only happens while the wifi device is unavailable (issue raised in this post). Once the wifi is operating normally (as in, after rebooting the phone to restore access to wifi) there is no high battery consumption and it can easily run for 2 days with a single charge.
About the router, it’s a Google Nest WiFi Pro with 2 mesh points (I used 3 points before and also had the same problems) and default settings, no time limit and no custom configurations applied. It’s operating in IPv4 only as my current provider does not offer IPv6 yet.
I don’t have my previous phone anymore, so leaving the phone plugged to a computer capturing logs with adb until the problem happens is not an option for me unfortunately.
This is my last remain major gripe. Everything else seems solid, not getting many random reboots, auto brightness seems stable, screen rate crash to 2spf is fixed, Bluetooth headphones not causing weirdness anymore. So lots of things have been fixed, well done Fairphone ![]()

But I have to reboot several times a day to get WiFi back, it’s as though the whole WiFi stack is crashing. I’m also using Google mesh WiFi at home, so maybe frequent point hops is overloading something over time?
I have the same issue.
Ever since some update in late october, my fairphone 6 keeps losing wifi connection after a few hours and can’t find any wifi network anymore until restart. Don’t remember where I saw it, but I also once read an error message on the phone about wifi service not working / disabled or whatever.
An update a few weeks ago fixed it for a few days. Then I was abroad for a few weeks, where it had no issue with wifi networks whatsoever. Ever since I am back, all of the last week, the issue came back.
Any other device, also some android devices, in my home work just fine. It’s only the fairphone that has that issue. There are no time or other limits on my router.
Can you please fix this already?
In case it wasn’t obvious why it’s a horrible issue that needs fixing asap: Phone uses up a lot of battery when not connected to wifi; Mobile Data limit gets used unexpectedly and it’s annoying as heck to restart the phone every few hours.
Welcome to the community forum.
I advise you to report your problem to official Support, since FP staff don’t necessarily read everything in this user forum.
Make sure you underline that the problem didn’t occur when you were abroad.
In the mean time you might want to turn off mobile data except when you intend to use it. This may help with the Wi-Fi problem too.
Thank you.
Will do that.
I’ve been having wifi issues even on /e/OS. (My wifi literally just dropped while I was typing this LOL) I think I’m only having this issue at home though. I don’t think I’ve seen it elsewhere. I noticed at home I’m connected via wifi 6, which isn’t a particularly common yet. So I’m wondering if it’s an issue with that.
So question for all of you with this issue: Are you connected via wifi 6 by any chance?
That’s a good point, I’m connected via wifi 6 too.
Indeed, wifi 6. Problem seems to occur only at home too. Though once it happens, it can’t find any network no matter where, unless I restart.
Yep, WiFi 6, mesh network.
Turning off mobile data is a solid plan. I’ll be abroad soon and don’t want to chew through data faster than I need to…
At home I’m also connected via WiFi6 in a mesh network while my phone is charging over night and sometimes lost it’s WiFi connection.
Network Devices: Fritzbox 7690 (WiFi6) and Fritz Repeater 6000 (WiFi6). IPv6 activated with dynamic (non-static) IP address assignment.
Ok I’m gonna go ahead and tempt fate…
I’m on 14 hours of uptime and my WiFi is still up…
FP6.QREL.15.162.0 install was my 14 hour ago reboot…
Make of this what you will ![]()

Edit
23 hours! I’m calling it fixed, for me anyway!
Noooooooo it died overnight on the second night ![]()
Try to use only the 2.4GHz channel,
I have created a guest wifi network with only 2.4 GHz and it seems to be stable since then.
( I am also in a mesh configuration, another brand of wifi router)
Alright, I’ll give that a go.
Be a little while before I get the chance to try it. At the moment I’ve turned off “Wi-Fi scan throttling” in the developer settings, see how that goes over the next couple of days or so…
Using 2,4 GHz only delays the issue , it is still happening. So not a reliable workaround.
