I have this new behaviour since I upgraded to Androis 13 on my FP3:
When I temporarily get out of range of a registered WiFi network, then in range again, the phone doesn’t autmatically reconnect until I wake it up. So e.g. messaging apps are not silently reconnecting and I have to remember to wake the phone when in range to get new messages & notifications etc.
I don’t have to do anything special, just turn on (wake up) the phone.
This was not the case with Android 11.
Of course, Automatic reconnection when in range is turned ON in WiFi network details.
Is there a setting I’m missing or is this a new feature in A13 (6.A.030.0) ?
I heard about this issue many times, especially in the LineageOS threads. It is also present on Android 14. As far as I know it has never been adressed/fixed.
Maybe resetting your WiFi setting will help?
I agree that this bug is very annoying. And there are several threads or posts about it.
I reported it to support when A13 was released. They confirmed the bug and said they are in contact with the development team. A few months later the ticket was closed.
In the Winter of 2023/2024 I asked about it again, and again they told me that they know about this bug but are not able to solve it yet.
My last contact was in May 2024, with almost the same reply again:
We are currently investigating this with our department, and a fix has not yet been released. But be assured that our team is working on it, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Long story short: No solution. Factory reset and / or network settings reset is not solving this issue.
