Do I need a virus scanner on my phone? And witch app do you recommend?
Well, it depends on what kind of “junk apps” and app stores do you want to use 
What scenario do you plan to have? (no)GApps, games, “free” apps, or what?

I use AVG Free version which is good enough for me

I only use free apps from the google app store. Because i don’t have a phone subscription with internet i use my home internet ore free internet at the library and hotel.
