Vibration does not work

Hey there!

I have found something strange.
The vibration on my device does not work.
I tried it with

*#*#2886#*#*

on the call app to test it and it does not pass.

The strange part is, that is works by booting the phone(by booting there is always a short vibration).
But on the os it does not work.

Does someone have the same issue, or maybe is it just a software bug?

Thanks for reading this.

In Sound and Vibration there’s two vibration settings, have you checked those?

Yes I did check them.

Seems like I have to return it.
Oh man..
There was a lot to setup. Big pain.

I did a Smartphone-Reset and now it works how it should work!

I know that a lot of people had problems with frame drops and the problem with the frame drops also disappeared! Steady 120 Hz, everything runs smooth.

My FP6 stopped vibrating after a recent update.

Has anyone found a solution that doesn’t require a factory reset?

Welcome :slightly_smiling_face:
I presume you checked the settings? There’s no vibration when you change a vibration setting?

I’ve checked the settings, tried turning vibrations off and on again, I’ve also tried a vibration tester.

I’m sure it could vibrate previously, because I turned off the vibrate on keyboard presses feature. Also turning that on again does nothing.

First I advise you to open a ticket with official Fairphone support.

Secondly make sure you have up-to-date backups. As you will have seen by reading above, a factory reset has been successful, but that would delete all your data.

Sending the phone for repair would also lead to deletion.

There’s no way of knowing at the moment if any other solution will became available.

For me I had to go to the vibration and haptic detailed settings then changing some settings for it up and down / off and on got it going… but it seems pretty weak, the notifications in practice are weaker than the representative short pulse when choosing the strength of the vibration!?

I had the exact same issue!

I’ve got the fairphone 6 with /e/OS 3.0.4.

I discoverd without doing a reset, an option was switched to “on”, which should not, so it appears..

In “System” => “Keyboard”, the switch “Redirect vibration” (game controllers) was switched “on”!

Switched this to “off”, vibrations worked again!

Hope this helps (for me it did)

:sparkles:

Maybe try safe mode first to exclude any third party apps or custom settings.

This ‘fixed’ the problem on my FP5 with Android. I previously had a malfunctioning vibration motor, replacing it did make the phone briefly vibrate on startup, but even the *#*#2886#*#* call app would not work. Checking this Redirect vibration setting and turning it off finally made vibrations work.
