USB is working charging only

Hi!

For two month approx I have this issue:
When I plug my FP5 at the computer I don’t have the menu to choose which option to select (charging, file transfer, MTP …) but only the “charging…” message in the bottom of the locking screen.
Rarely (like 1/10 of the time) it works regularly.

The cable I use is the long life USB-C USB-C from Fairphone, and when I plug my old FP4 it works fine.

I guess the issue comes from the FP5 USB port, then… Before buying a new one: Is it possible to clean it? With earbuds and alcool?

you can first check carefully with a needle or similar if there is any compressed dust at the bottom of the port. I dont think I would put a soaked cotton bud into the port. I would use this rather to clean contacts of the module

My brother’s port was unable to initiate USB debugging. After he replaced it, the smartphone was able to. The contacts on both appeared identical. Occasionally, a damaged port is not visibly so.

With the sheer amount of USB ports that any person shall accrue in their lifetime, I recommend purchasing an arm-held magnifier.
